Loon Camp Addition

Loon Camp was one of the original hunting cabins on the property. The building currently is in need of foundational repair around the non original kitchen addition. While repairing the foundation of the kitchen addition is possible there has been family interest to remove the kitchen and replace it with a new addition that includes an interior bathroom. In effort to aid discussions, Rooney + Rooney Design has put together the following initial design options based on family comments. The options are as follows:

OP1. Minimal Intervention

  • Removal of existing kitchen

  • Maintain the southern kitchen footprint while expanding the eastern footprint by about 5’ to account for the new bathroom

  • Can maintain 1 story elevation but will need to rebuild the roof line

OP2. Larger Single Story Intervention

  • Removal of existing kitchen

  • Expand the footprint of camp to the south about 8’ and east to accommodate for larger kitchen and new bathroom

  • Can maintain 1 story elevation but will need to rebuild the roof line

OP3. Two Story Intervention

  • Removal of existing kitchen

  • Expand the footprint of camp to the south about 4’ and east about 8’ to accommodate for larger kitchen and new bathroom

  • 2nd story would include new bathroom and new bedroom.

Notes since board of directors call on 4/2/23

  • Some interest in making primary entrance on the east face of the building
